Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller filming Pygmalion A photograph

A photograph of Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller filming 'Pygmalion' (1938), taken in March 1938 by Saidman for the Daily Herald.

'Pygmalion' was a British film based on the 1913 George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) play of the same name. The film starred Howard as Professor Henry Higgins, and Hiller as Eliza Doolittle. Two Saidman brothers, Reuben and Barnet, worked as staff photographers for the Daily Herald. Their photographs are simply stamped 'Saidman' on the reverse, making it difficult to tell which of the brothers took the photograph.
