Rosie was part of a circus show taking place at the Coliseum Theatre in London. Mr Lupino Lane is mentioned on the reverse of the photograph. Lane (1892-1959), born Henry George Lupino, was a member of the extensive Lupino family of circus performers, acrobats and actors. Having starred in stage shows and a number of films, he was well known in London's West End.
Two Saidman brothers, Reuben and Barnet, worked as staff photographers for the Daily Herald. Their photographs are simply stamped 'Saidman' on the reverse, making it difficult to tell which of the brothers took the photograph.
