A photograph of 12 year old gymnast Barbara Kempson, taken in November 1937 by Saidman for the Daily Herald.
Barbara is taking part in the final heats of a musical comedy competition. Held at the Conway Hall in Bloomsbury, London, the competition raised funds for the Sunshine Home for Blind Babies.
Two Saidman brothers, Reuben and Barnet, worked as staff photographers for the Daily Herald. Their photographs are simply stamped 'Saidman' on the reverse, making it difficult to tell which of the brothers took the photograph.
