A photograph of boxer Eric Boon (1918-1991) after winning the British lightweight championship, taken by Saidman for the Daily Herald newspaper on 15 December, 1938.

A photograph of boxer Eric Boon (1918-1991), taken in December 1938 by Saidman for the Daily Herald.

The photograph was taken just after Boon had taken the British lightweight title from reigning champion Dave Crowley (1910-1974). Boon knocked out Crowley in the 13th round.

Two Saidman brothers, Reuben and Barnet, worked as staff photographers for the Daily Herald. Their photographs are simply stamped 'Saidman' on the reverse, making it difficult to tell which of the brothers took the photograph.
