A photograph of a woman making badges for the army, taken by Bishop Marshall for the Daily Herald newspaper on 8 January, 1940. Betty Cole is photographed using a gas torch to melt metal into a series of moulds for regimental badges. This photograph is one of a series taken to illustrate a Daily Herald feature story by Dudley Barker on workers in wartime.
