Tinplate worker

Dressed in well-worn work clothes Dai Ward loads a trolley with tinplate sheets. In the background some of his fellow workers smile for the camera. Wales was the centre of the British tinplate industry due to the quantity of iron works and easy accessibility to Cornish tin.
