Slough Station
- Made:
- circa 1842
Painting, watercolour, Slough Station, by an unknown artist, about 1842. Depicts a view of the Great Western Railway station seen from the north. A train of what appear to be open carriages, hauled by a 2-2-2 steam locomotive, is waiting in the 'up' train shed, heading for London. Further down the track is the train shed for 'down' trains for Bristol, with a bridge over the railway beyond. Passengers are standing near the station entrance, and there is a water column beside the track. Behind the station is the newly completed Royal Hotel. In the foreground is a field, surrounded by a wooden fence. Ivory plaque on the frame reads "Slough Station, 1841, 576".
Framed and glazed.
