BBC MX/18 4-channel passive mixer unit for use with the OBA/8 amplifier, 1938. The BBC number on the outer case is MX/18/552, but the BBC number on unit itself is MX/18/494. The OBA/8 amplifier was developed by the BBC for radio outside broadcasts in the late 1930s. It was used extensively for both radio and early TV outside broadcasts and continued in service well after its successor (the OBA/9) was introduced.
