Electronic test card "F" generator. Made by the BBC between 1965 and 1970 at the BBC's Engineering Training Department at Wood Norton Hall in Worcestershire.

This electronic test card generator was used by the BBC to generate the now iconic test card known as 'Test Card F.' Test cards are used to calibrate television cameras and recievers correctly so that the picture settings are correct, and would be used when no programmes were showing on a channel. Test card F was the first test card to be transmitted in colour in the UK and was the first to include a person. The card features a young girl (Carole Hersee) playing noughts and crosses with a toy clown, known as Bubbles. The card was used between 1967 and the late 1990s.
