This Image Orthicon camera tube was the main optical pick up device used in monochrome cameras before the advent of photoconductive camera tubes. It required careful setting up and controlling during operation and did not like very bright high lights in the image, as they would "stick" to the target so leaving the image there after the picture had been changed. It would have to be burnt off
