More
The first pocket-sized televisions were developed in the 1970s, showing off how technology had improved to the point that a fully functioning television could be small enough to fit in your hand. The first portable TVs used cathode ray tubes (CRTs), which could make the TV bulky. This television uses an LCD (liquid crystal display) screen, which allows it to be smaller and flatter. A built-in antenna and batteries meant that anyone could watch television on the go, so long as they were happy with a small and low-resolution image.
