An all electric Superhet radio and gramaphone unit. The gram has spare needles in a small cup by the turntable.

The "superhet" stood for Super hetrodyne which was a method of standardising radio construction. The radio frequency waves were converted to an intermediate frequency, which was easier to control, when tuned to the required station the signal was demodulated so it could be heard.
