British Soldier

Hat resting on table.60x75mm wooden hanging frame covered with maroon paper. Hanging ring missing. Plain oval gilt mat. Pinchbeck frame. The soldier can be identified as a corporal from the two chevrons on his jacket sleeve. The badge on the shako - a plumed military hat - resting on the table next to him suggests he may have been a Coldstream Guard. He may have served in the British army during the Crimean War (1854-1856).
