Junction box no.2 from wireless set no. 38 Mk. II serial no. 6319, unknown maker, British, 1939-1945.

The Wireless Set No. 38 was a ‘man pack’ transmitter and receiver used widely by British soldiers during the latter part of the Second World War. It was developed in 1942 for short range communication, and typically used by infantry soldiers. A modified version was installed in tanks. The equipment carried by a soldier included a large aerial, a heavy battery pack and a throat microphone, all of which was worn on the person.
