BBC (Research Department)

The server was called html-tx.radio.bbc.co.uk. It is a Linux box used to create TPEG Travel info, and 'broadcast web services' for the BBC National DAB Multiplex. The BBC DAB multiplex was the first broadcast digital multiplex, and was the first to broadcast a data service on a digital platform (FM-RDS and CEEFAX were data services broadcast on analogue platforms). The server is an AT format (horizontally oriented) PC with specialist IO cards (printed circuit boards that can be installed to enhance a computer's capabilities, as by increasing memory or improving graphics).. It has a BBC 'year 2000 compliant sticker' on it.
