A Gas Interface Unit made by British Gas in the 1990s. In the 1990s British Gas were looking to develop a new way of reading customers' meters which did not require a visit to the customers home. This unit was developed and was intended to pass the information from the meter to a central computer at British Gas via either the telephone or electricity supply.
