Timber-framed open wagon, made by and for the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway, Manchester, 1880.

Open top wagons were used to carry general freight from cotton bales and cable drums to motor cars. This wagon was built for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, which became the Great Central Railway in 1898. It was last used at Chatham Dockyard located on the River Medway in Kent. The Great Central Railway opened a wagon works at Dukinfield, Manchester, in 1910.
