Green stove-top kettle from the cab of an EM1 or EM2 Electric Locomotive, 1952-1960.

Used by staff on an electric hot plate installed in the cab. Drivers of steam locomotives could use the coal fire in the cab to boil a kettle. When this electric locomotive was introduced on the Manchester to Sheffield line in the 1950s, the designers included an electric boiling ring in the cab so the driver could still put the kettle on.
