Wire bobbin for use on textile spinning machinery.

This lightweight wire mesh bobbin would have been used on a loom or other textile production machine.

A length of thread wound onto it, created a package of thread. Once the thread had been used up and the bobbin was empty, it could be rewound with thread and reused.

Bobbins came in lots of shapes, sizes and materials to suit the part of the textile process they were used in.
