Glass paste portrait of John Harrison by James Tassie (1735 – 1799) London, c. 1775. White oval relief of head and shoulders of John Harrison, facing right. Set in a wooden frame. Clockmakers' Museum No. B1082
Tassie was celebrated for his sensitive portraits, modelled first in wax and then cast in vitreous enamel. This cameo of Harrison was the artist’s personal property, and was given to the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers for their museum collection by the Reverand Henry Nelthropp.
