Notebook of Cyril A. Harrison, First World War overseas ambulance train number 16

Made:
1915 in France

Notebook of Cyril A. Harrison, First World War overseas ambulance train / hospital train number 16. Written by Harrison during his service as a Medical Orderly (M.O.) serving number 16 ambulance train 14 August 1915 - 30 Jan 1919. Harrison was a member of the Friends Ambulance Unit (FAU). The FAU were conscientious objectors (C.O.) who staffed entire ambulance trains (as well as carrying out other medical non combat duties) during the World War One (WW1). The notebook includes tables containing names of FAU staff who served on the ambulance train under headings 'French B' and 'English', possibly a rota system for train work; religious quotations and notes regarding peace; medical notes e.g. 'notes on the blood'; a number of pages listing French Language practice, presumably French was being learnt for use during ambulance train service.
