'Star Wars' LaserVision Disc

Made:
1982

A LaserVision disc of the film 'Star Wars', produced by Twentieth Century Fox Video Ltd about 1985.

In the United States, the demand was for a system which would replay feature films rather than record broadcast programmes. In 1978 the Philips/MCA LaserVision video disc system was launched on the American market. Players had a retail price of $695. Discs of recent feature films sold for around $15.95. The picture quality was superb and, like all disc systems, it was quick and easy to shuttle forwards and back in the programme. However the system never really caught on in Brtain where we demanded a system which would record as well as play back.
