Octagonal crystal-cased watch by an unknown maker, France c.1625. Both crystal covers are set in engraved gilt-metal frames. The oval shaped movement has a gilded dial with engraved centre and steel hand. The movement has a train of four wheels, verge escapement and ratchet-wheel set up. The balance cock is pinned on, and narrow and oval in shape. The fusee was originally fitted with gut-line but now has a chain.
Presented to the museum of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers by William Auld of Edinburgh in 1825.
