Oval shaped watch by Richard Masterson, England c.1630. Silver oval case, with engraved flat rim and plain back, and cover with crystal fixed by a ring. Gilt brass dial plate engraved with cherubs and foliage. Silver hour ring with architectural scene engraved inside. Steel hand with long tail. Movement with verge escapement, small long oval shaped balance cock, train of three wheels, and ratchet set-up regulator. Engraved border to back plate, and signed 'Ri. Masterson fecit'. The watch formed part of the collection of the Reverend Henry Nelthropp, later donated by Nelthropp to the museum of Worshipful Company of Clockmakers. Clockmakers' Museum No. 13
