Watch in a silver-gilt case, cast into the pattern of a Tudor rose, by William Clay, England c.1640. Silver-gilt dial with an engraved floral centre. Movement with verge escapement and a train of three wheels and worm-and-wheel set up. The balance spring has one turn in its coil and is likely to have been added very early, necessitating the raising of the balance cock. Signed ‘William Clay London’.
