Pair cased watch by Charles Gretton, London, c.1690. Outer case of leather studded with silver, inner case pierced and engraved silver. Silver dial with a steel hand and a central alarm disk with steel pointer. Fusee movement with verge escapement and a small balance wheel with balance spring of two turns. Presented to the museum of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers by Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy in 1818.
Gretton became Master of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1700.
