Quarter repeating gold watch by Brounker Watts, London, early eighteenly century. Pierced and engraved gold case. Originally the watch would have had an outer case, but this is now missing. Gold champleve dial, signed 'Watts' 'London' on two plaques. Steel beetle and poker hands. Engraved dust cap with central clip, signed 'Brounker Watts London'. Movement with verge escapement, diamond endstone, and quarter repeating work, which acts on a bell or pulse piece. Signed on the backplate ‘Brounker Watts London’. Presented to the museum of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers by Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy in 1816.
Watts became a free Clockmaker in 1693. Clockmakers' Museum No. 72
