

Pierced and engraved gold pair cased repeater watch by William Webster, c.1710. The gold dial has raised hour figures and large minute figures, a sunk centre with name plaques and steel hands. Repeats on bell or pulse piece. Movement with verge escapement. Signed ‘Willm. Webster Exchange Alley London 1033’.
Webster was a journeyman with Thomas Tompion. He was admitted to the Clockmakers Company in 1710, became Warden in 1734 and died the same year.
