Watch movement by Charles Haley, London, Late 18th century. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds dial. Gold loop hands. Movement with pivoted detent escapement and balance similar in type to Arnold's OZ. Signed 'Chas. Haley London Invt. et Fecit. CA/1513'. Presented to the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers by Francis B. Adams, 1869. Clockmakers' Museum No. 434

Charles Haley was made a Freeman of the Clockmakers' Company in 1781 and died in 1825. His work centered on chronometer making and in 1796 he patented an escapement with a remontoire, known as a constant force escapement.
