Gold watch with chronometer escapement by James Moore French, London, 1814. Gold hunter case, hallmarked for 1814, with gold fob chain and seal and bed hook. Gold dial with engine turned centre and matt chapter ring with polished numerals, steel wavy hands. Movement with spring detent escapement, two arm compensation balance with helical spring, jewelled pivot holes and diamond endstone. Signed 'French, Royal Exchange, London 1029’ on the dust cap and movement.

French became a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1810. Clockmakers Museum No. 442
