Baird Model A radio receiver for the Plessey Televisor

Baird Model A radio receiver for the Plessey Televisor, 1930. This radio was built (or commissioned) by the Baird Television Company to accompany its line of 'Tin Stove' Televisors, mass produced (under contract) by Plessey between 1929 and 1931. This unit actually contains two radios, one for the vision signal and one for the sound signal. It was connected by wire to the back of a Baird Televisor and similarly to an external loudspeaker, to enable the reception and reproduction of the 30-line television broadcasts made from late 1929 until 1935. Production numbers of this radio were very low. This is one of only three identical radios known to exist today, the second in a museum and a third in a private collection.
