Fangs designed for - and worn by - Christopher Lee (born 1922) for one scene in the film 'Dracula', created by Phil Leakey (1908-1992) in 1958. The 'blood' reservoir is attached to the fangs. which were worn inside the mouth. Lee pressed the reservoir against his palate with his tongue, and 'blood' ran through the tubes, dripping off the ends of the fangs.
This object is from the Ashton and Leakey Collection. Roy Ashton (1909-1995) and Phil Leakey were pioneers of special effects make-up - using cosmetics and prosthetics to transform an actor's appearance and created the iconic monster make ups for Hammer Films during the 1950s and 1960s.
