Marconi Heli-Tele gyro-stablised ball turret aerial television camera rig

Marconi Heli-Tele gyro-stablised ball turret aerial television camera rig for helicopter as used by the BBC, c 1975-1985.

It was attached to a special bracket on the side of a helicopter. There is no camera installed inside. This type of external ball mount rather than an internal or built-in camera became the most cost-effective answer to carrying television cameras aloft. As technology improved, sizes shrank and capabilities grew.
