Photograph showing a BBC operator handling 'identification reproducer' gramophone records, that allowed the GPO to connect an outgoing radio transmission to its international radio station during the 1948 Olympic Games. Taken by Barratt's Photo Press limited.
Each of these records had the location of where the radio broadcast was going to, so that the General Post Office (GPO) knew where to direct the transmission.
