Avent Classic+ 0m+ 125ml infant feeding bottle, produced by Philips Consumer Lifestyle BV, England 2017

This Avent Classic+ feeding bottle is specifically designed to be used by parents or carers to as one way to feed infants. It is made from polypropylene with removable silicone teats and caps to enable carers to easily sterilise each individual part. There is also a valve on the teat that flexes to allow air onto the bottle, reducing the amount of air ingested by the child and preventing colic. Based on a design from 1984, the Avent Classic+ has been updated to prevent colic and is BPA (Bisephenol A) free. BPA is used to make rigid plastics, including food and water storage. With concerns of the trace amounts that may be transferred into good and drinks, BPA’s use in baby bottles and for items used by young children was legislated against by the European Union in 2010. Research into BPA’s effects continues.
