Goodbye Mr Jiggs the amiable ape. Mr Jiggs, London Zoo's famous orangutan, is dead. The 16-year-old, 22-stone ape, a great favourite with the visitors to the zoo, was found dead in his cage. Cause of death is a mystery. A post-mortem is being held. Mr Jiggs loved attention -- and always got it. He loved skylarking--and always raised a laugh. Here he is pictured wearing a keeper's hat and spectacles. 4 July 1961.
