Central Press Photos Ltd photograph showing Sir Laurence Olivier in character as Macbeth. Caption on back reads: Tonight, Tuesday, "Macbeth" will have its first performance of the season at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon. Sir Laurence Olivier is in the name part for the first time since his much-praised performance at the Old Vic 18 years ago, and Vivien Leigh is playing Lady Macbeth for the first time. The production is directed by Glen Byam Shaw, and the costumes and settings are designed by Roger Furse. The picture shows a fine study of Sir Laurence Olivier as Macbeth.
