Prince Rostislav Alexandrovitch are seated together on a sled with Miss Coster stood near a horse drawn carriage in the background. Galloway Stewart was English tutor to the sons of Grand Duke Alexander and his wife Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, sister of Tsar Nicholas II.

The unidentified gentleman is thought to be Pierre Gilliard, a Swiss tutor to H. I. H. Tsarevich Alexei Nicolaevich.
