A collection of 22 annotated albums of snapshots taken between 1908 and the Russian Revolution, in 1917, by Herbert Galloway Stewart. The albums feature members of the Russian Royal Family, taken mainly in St Petersburg and the Crimea and in various locations around Europe. The albums were compiled by Herbert Galloway Stewart, who was employed by the Grand Duchess Xenia (1875-1960) as a tutor for her son, Prince Andrew Alexandrovitch Romanoff (1897-1981). The albums form a part of the Ricketts Collection, a collection of prints, albums, ephemera and objects assembled by Howard and Jane Ricketts. The Collection concentrates mainly on 19th century British photography, but is also rich in documentary, topographic and ethnographic photography from around the world. Stewart Albums 1908-1917
