Papers of Ian Braybrook relating to BR Freight privatisation. papers span the 1993 – 1999 period of Ian Braybrook’s career. They include official external publications and documents produced by or involving third parties. The archive covers Freight Operating Companies (FOCs); Organising for Quality (OFQ), BR Sector Trainload Freight; Railnet; Loadhaul Ltd; English Welsh and Scottish Railway (EWS) Ltd.
These papers were collected during Britain’s Railways All Change (BRAC) oral history project and support Ian Braybook's oral history interview. BRAC was set-up to cover gaps in documenting the railway privatisation process in the United Kingdom, between 1994 and 1997, when the government-owned British Rail was dismantled into over 100 privately-owned companies. The interviews capture the recollections of people involved in the planning and implementation of the privatisation process, the management of change and running the railway during privatisation.
