The Quiet Launching

he top-hatted Lord Mayor of London, Sir Charles Trinder, launches the "Quiet City" Campaign in the forecourt of the Royal Exchange by Switching on a "noise thermometer" registering the noise level of the City traffic at Bank junction during the week.

The 'thermometer' was unveiled on the same day as the exhibition "Noise Control" was opened at the City of London Exhibition Hall, Guildhall. The exhibition was arranged in co-operation with the Ministry of Public Building and Works and the Noise Abetment Society.
