It's the "Serpent"

Oddest instrument, aptly named the "Serpent", is displayed by 21-year-old Jennifer Legg, of the Worthing Library. Dating from the year 1800, the wooden, obsolete orchestral instrument is one of a number of ancient types on show at the local museum. They were lent by retired builder Mr. Albert Spencer, of Worthing, who spent £1000 over many years on collecting them.
