One photograph of operator sandblasting a bell for Bradford. Crop marks shown. Caption on back reads: 'One of the most dangerous jobs of the present day is Sand blasting bells. Bells weighing some tons are all finished and cleaned by being blasted with fine sand at hundreds pounds of pressure. The operator is shut in a steel cabinet and dressed in (?) garb. He may not remain in the cabinet for more than half an hour. He is served with milk at intervals. A companion waits outside and watches through a plate glass peephole in case of accidents. The operator communicates with him by means of signals. Photo - directing a stream of sand at high pressure on a bell for Bradford at the Croydon Bell Foundry. RSS/B. Keystone'. Used 7th Jan 1933.
