Caption on back reads: 'A most spectacular and thrilling sight was witnessed by Londoners today when a man was to be seen at work on the flag staff high above Westminster Abbey. It was Mr. W.N. Mackney, the London steeplejack, who is painting the flagstaff. Mr. Mackney who weights 15 stone 3lbs, is the heaviest man to climb a flag pole in the world.
