One photograph titled ‘With Byrd to the South Pole’ showing the tail of two whales sticking out of the water. Caption on the back reads: ‘Special photographs dealing with the work of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition, 1928-29-30: an achievement which must be memorable, since, for the first time in the history of polar exploration, an American has made a long exploration trip in Antarctica, and his airplane was the first to fly over the main body of the continent, thus covering ground on which human feet has never previously trod’. Image includes crop marks. Back of the image includes annotations and the caption appears to be crossed out.
