One photograph of a man inspecting a radiogram cabinet titled 'Waste Wood Saves Dollars--New British Invention Will Revolutionise the World's Industries'. Caption on back reads: 'All over the country, Britain's industries are geared up to full production in an all-out effort to supply countless world markets, with the goods they require. During the making of these goods, much precious materials has to be thrown away as waste -- especially wood, which is used in many of these industries. As nearly 40% of all wood cut is lost for productive purposes, this has become a major headache, but due to a new process, this waste is now being made into "man-made" timber, and promises to save countless precious dollars in the future. This new process, known as "plimber" is in fact, a synthetic, plastic timber. The waste wood is pulverised, mixed with other ingredients, plasticised with artificial resins, subjected to pressure, and finally cured to produce sheets of "man-made" timber. Plimber, which has the blessing of the Ministry of Works, causes no new worries for the carpenter or joiner, one of its chief advantages being that it can be worked as easily as wood without any special tools being required. This handsome radio gram cabinet of veneered Plimber is helping Britain's export drive. The sound insultating qualities of this "man-made" timber make it particularly useful for this type of cabinet'.
