Royal Trinity Hospice poster titled ‘There is a new testing process that you are expected to participate in if you work in the hospice building. See below for how this will affect you’, published in 2021, one of many leaflets and posters produced by Royal Trinity Hospice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic

Testing has played an important role in controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the UK. Since early 2021, lateral flow tests have been available to healthcare workers as part of a regular testing programme. As this poster shows, staff had Royal Trinity Hospice had to do two lateral flow tests a week and one polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Lateral flow tests are quicker and easier than PCR tests as they do not need to be go to a lab to be processed. But the lateral flow tests are less sensitive than PCR tests. By doing both regularly, Royal Trinity Hospice, and other care homes and healthcare settings, had the best chance of spotting any infections quickly. This is important to contain any possible outbreaks of COVID-19.

Royal Trinity Hospice which founded in 1891 is England’s oldest hospice. They provide in-patient and community palliative and end of life care in South West London.
