Wratten and Wainwright Christmas Postcard by C.E.K. Mees to John Pledge
- PART OF:
- The Kodak Museum Collection
- Made:
- 1906-12-21
A colour illustrated framed scene with the message 'With all Good Wishes from Wratten & Wainwright, Ltd., Croydon', in the form of a postcard. In smaller text under the image, it reads; 'From Direct negatives by C.E.K. Mees'. The postcard was sent to J.H. Pledge Esq, 115 Richmond Road, Dalston, N.E and has a Croydon postmark dated December 21st, 1906. There is no message suggesting it was a Christmas card in the form of a postcard. Both John Pledge and C.E.K. Mees were employees of photographic firm Wratten & Wainwright before the company was purchased by Kodak Ltd in 1912. Both Pledge and Mees transferred with the company to Kodak Ltd with Pledge establishing the Kodak Musuem in 1927 and Mees establishing the research department in Rochester, New York at the personal request of Kodak founder George Eastman.
