Apollo 11 commemorative low ball / roly poly drinking glasses, set of 6, made in the USA by The Libbey Glass Company, 1969. Around each of the glasses, there is an image of the Lunar Module with the text 'Apollo 11' ; a Neil A Armstrong quote 'That's one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind.' and 'First Man on the Moon' with an image of Armstrong stepping off the lander ladder onto the surface of the Moon. Each image or quote is separated by a blue square with five white stars.

These commemorative glasses highlight the impact that the Apollo programme had on the public at the time. Glassware company, Libbey Inc., produced a number of these types of glasses including for Apollo 12, 13, and 14. They were sold in convenience stores and fuel stations in America. The Taylor family, who were based in the UK, were gifted these glasses by friends in the United Sates. Because the family considered the Moon landings such a momentous occasion, the glasses were hardly used. They were kept for special occassions but otherwise were in a display cabinet or safely stored in cupboards.
