Jerry can with Zero Petroleum branding, used for promotional photography during the world's first successful flight using only 100% synthetic fuel by Zero Petroleum and the Royal Air Force on 18 November 2021.

Zero Petroleum is the first British company to produce fossil-free, synthetic, non-biological petroleum fuels. The company was founded in 2020 by Paddy Lowe, former Formula One engineer, and Prof. Nilay Shah, chemical engineer at Imperial College. The principle of these ‘synthetic fuels’ is to combine hydrogen (produced from water in a process powered by renewable energy) with carbon captured from the atmosphere, to create hydrocarbons which make a net zero contribution to atmospheric carbon concentrations. Fuels produced in this way are one route to decarbonising highly emitting sectors for which alternatives (e.g. electrification) are not currently viable, including aviation and shipping. Zero Petroleum were awarded a Guinness World Record for conducting—in collaboration with the RAF—the first flight powered by 100% fossil free synthetic fuel.
